What is the Best At Home Teeth Whitening System

Tuesday, June 2nd, 2009

In the oral health care market of today, home teeth whitening systems have become a leading industry. Whitening chewing gum by itself is reckoned to bring in an amazing 17 million dollars per annum in sales, and that is just for one brand. When you take into account other products like brushed on bleaching gels, whitening toothpastes and whitening strips, it is easy to see just how large and profitable the market has become. Oral care as we know it nowadays, has not always been that way though and is somewhat different from its rather humble beginnings. The lengths which a lot of people would go to in the past just to get a natural smile can make you very appreciative of the modern-day conveniences that we take for granted nowadays.

Dental Care

These days, we all know that brushing our teeth daily or after meals is the first step in home teeth whitening. To do that, we turn to our trusty toothbrush to get rid of any surface buildup on our teeth. Everybody has a toothbrush readily available but what would you do if you could not find yours. You would venture outside into your front or back yard naturally and find yourself a suitable twig. Hundreds of years ago, folks would actually chew on twigs in order to clean their pearly whites. After that, some ingenious soul, way back in history, had the bright idea of fashioning a piece of wood and adding boar bristle to the end of it. And so the toothbrush was born although the thought of having a mouthful of hog hairs first thing in the morning is not too attractive.

Although home tooth whitening kits have come a long way over time, needing to have whiter teeth is not anything new and has always been trendy. The early barber, who used to double as the local dentist, would literally file the surface of the tooth down and then apply a solution of Nitric Acid. This process would sure enough be effectual at giving dazzling white teeth, but it also came with a high price tag. The combination of filing and acid would ruin the enamel protection leading to rapid decay and the eventual loss of the teeth.

Consider that refreshing minty taste of your toothpaste. Most whitening toothpastes today contain sodium bicarbonate as an active ingredient and it is still popular practice among some people to brush their teeth with neat sodium bicarbonate right out of the package. However, If you do not fancy the taste of bicarbonate of soda in your mouth, you may be better off staying with toothpaste. Back in the 1800′s, that may not have been such good advice because urine was a common ingredient in toothpaste at that time.

The best dental whitening system starts with correct tooth care. You do need to brush each day and floss on a regular basis. Frequent check-ups at the dentist can help keep your teeth healthy and your gums in great condition. You do not want to brush your teeth with pure bleach. You might ,in addition, want to skip tobacco products, red wine and beverages like tea, coffee or soda pop. All of those cause discoloration of the tooth enamel over time. If whiter teeth seem too much hassle, then consider how far people had to go in years gone by to have sparkling white teeth.

Are You At Risk for Gum Disease…

Monday, June 1st, 2009

You cannot lapse when it comes to your oral health, because gum disease has been tentatively linked to severe health problems. Heart disease, cancer and even dementia are very real worries, it pays to arm yourself with knowledge.

Sub par oral hygiene is not always the real cause of periodontal disease. Lot’s of people brush and floss regularly but still develop this problem. It won’t do to blame yourself.

Yes, it is true that the regular habits we were taught are helpful, but I think it is unwise to rely on brushing and flossing alone. I certainly would not discard them, but on the other hand, it is likely that you are going to need more than just brushing and flossing to protect your dental health.

Yes, You have got to remove dental plaque on a regular basis. Not doing this will allow plaque to build and inevitably form tartar. That will also lead to a buildup of bacteria, which can cause periodontal disease.

Here are just a few of the many risk factors for developing gum disease:

Smoking is a risk factor for this disease. Studies have shown the strong link between tobacco use and many oral illnesses. The smoke is destructive to your body’s tissues and this is true in the mouth as well.

Hormonal changes are a risk factor as well.

Stress can lead to gum disease as well. It is well known to result in a variety of health problems. Gum disease can be added to that list.

At the end of the day, periodontal disease is a problem that many will face.  This is not a disease of aging, but by age 65, the Mayo Clinic predicts that 95% of people will have it.  Be forwarned: This is not a disease of aging. It can be found in 6 – year olds as well.  Start taking the necessary steps to prevent this disease today.

Teeth Whitening Reviews – Be Careful What You Pay For

Teeth Whitening Reviews

It might just be me, but tell me you haven’t noticed that all of these teeth whiteners that you can use at home have become incredibly popular lately?

I definitely saw that this trend was starting probably around 12 months ago when a lot of companies started to offer teeth whiteners that they claimed would produce the same results as a dentist could get, but for a tiny fraction of the cost.

I know that over on my blog, lots of people are searching for honest teeth whitening reviews and looking for the best deals. I’m always happy to oblige.

Just like I do with all my reviews, I start by researching all of the various products to find out which of them could point to real results they were achieving with real people, which ones couldn’t point to any kind of track record at all, and then put those up against each other to see who was offering the best deals. Then I come up with a list of products — this one was pretty short, it had only two products on it — that I then can recommend to people.

We’re going to get to those in the second, so bear with me while I just go over a few very important things that you need to consider before you dive headfirst into the at-home teeth whitening pool. Okay?

The first thing you need to realize is that you’re going to have to pay probably close to $1000 if you plan on going to your dentist to have your teeth whitened.

Sure, I know that some people will say that that’s not a lot of money, but for the people who read my website, I know that they’d rather not have to spend $1000 just for whiter teeth. So I put my thinking cap on and started doing some teeth whitening reviews so you all would have some much less expensive choices.

Now, the really interesting thing I found out during my research was this…..

A lot of these at-home whitening systems are actually the very same thing — or at least pretty darn close to them — that your dentist would use if you went to see him and asked to have this done.

Sure, your dentist may boast that he has a bunch of fancy doodads that he can use to enhance the basic whitening system. But you’re going to pay so dearly for that enhancement, that it makes almost no sense to choose that route.

Now look, I’m not a dentist and I’ve never been to dental school. This isn’t advice from a doctor — it’s just advice from someone who puts a premium on common sense.

Maybe it’s just me, but I don’t see how it makes sense to go with an option that’s many times more expensive than what you could do at home when the results are so similar — don’t you agree?

And on top of everything else, because I’m going to show you in a second how to get the stuff for free, there’s absolutely no reason not to choose this option. At least that’s the way I see it.

I know you want to know which whitener is the best, and what I would recommend you do is to search for products that are available on free trials — yes, I know that I’ve talked about this before here — and that have some results from real people who have actually used their product in the past.

Okay, so we’ve gone through all of the background information, and now you know what to look for — so let’s talk about that very short list of great teeth whitening systems, which offer free trials, that I think you should look into. Both of these meet my criteria of offering completely free trials so you can see the results for yourself before you buy anything.

Great, so now were finally to the point where we can discuss those free trials that I’ve been talking about. You’re going to want to go to this Teeth Whitening Reviews portal.

Now, here’s why I really like this site. First of all, you can find specific instructions (including an ingenius little trick), that lets you get the best teeth whiteners for free. This is all shown in some great videos they have there, where you can also see each of the products reviewed and the pros and cons all spelled out.

I really hope that helps you make a decision!

How Discount Dental Plans Benefit You and Your Family

Sunday, May 31st, 2009

Largely unknown, discount dental plans are an emerging alternative to traditional dental insurance options. Everybody has dental insurance right? Wrong. According to CDC.gov.gov, 108 million+ American do not have dental insurance. Why are so many people living without dental insurance. There are several reasons, but the most common are unemployment and the hefty cost of being insured.

Dental Plans were created to make dental care affordable for the 108 million Americans whom could not afford traditional dental insurance. Dental plans are like savings plans. Discount dental plan payments are typically paid just once per year and provide discounts on most dental procprocedures. The savings vary from procedure to procedure, but are usually very significant.

Discount dental plans are beneficial in a number of other areas as well. Here are my top 5.

1) Affordability

Most dental plans start at around $80 for individuals and can run up to around $150 for family plans. This is not bad considering costly premiums associated with dental insurance plans.

2) Savings

With a discount dental plan you will save anywhere from 10% to 60% on most dental care procedures. Although this varies from plan to plan, this often includes x-rays, fillings, cleanings. You're likely to find that most plans even provide discounts for root canals and tooth extractions. Depending on the plan you select and the procedure undergone, your savings can amount to hundreds or even thousands of dollars.

3) No Health Restrictions

A big problem with traditional dental insurance is the health restrictions many companies enforce to keep their costs low. With a dental plan, you are not subject to any health restrictions. You are discounted according to the same fee schedule whether you have pre-existing health conditions or not.

4) Large Dentist Selection

Dentists across the United States participate in dental plan programs. The dental plan broker we recommend provides access to 100,000 participating dentists nationwide. Most areas have numerous options when it comes to participating dentist.

5) Immediate Online Enrollment & Quick Activation

Most plans offer immediate online enrollment in the plan of your choice, and a short 1-3 day activation period.

The benefits don't stop there. If you want to learn more about the benefits of owning a discount dental plan, please visit my website, dentalplancards.com

Locating A Close Henderson Dental Office

Sunday, May 31st, 2009

If you live in one of the four main cities within the immense Las Vegas Valley - Boulder City, Henderson, North Las Vegas and Las Vegas itself – there are undoubtedly a dozen or more dental practices nearby your home or work.

*** Hidden Dental Practices ***

Depending on where you live and how much you drive, it’s quite likely there are quite a few dental practices near you that you don’t know about.

That’s because despite there being 1,200 plus dental practices in the Vegas Valley, their offices may be off the main streets or blended-into modern look-alike strip-mall architecture.

*** The Phone Book ***

Of course, there’s always the yellow pages.

Just keep in mind that there are 66 pages of dental practice listings in the Las Vegas Metro Yellow Pages.

So, good luck using the phone book to find a nearby clinic.

In a way it’s a shame, but the internet is quickly making the phonebook obsolete.

Also, only those dentists who pay a lot of money (thousands a year) get the large, full or half-page four-color yellow page ads that get the best response rate.

The normal listings are all but worthless.

Just remember that the ad has NO bearing on the quality of care provided.

Don’t be duped…

*** The Big Valley ***

Another thing to take into consideration is that the Las Vegas Valley encompasses a vast amount of real estate.

In fact, it’s right at 600 square miles incorporating around 65 zip codes.

And while people tend to “shop” for a prospective dentist almost as diligently as they do their church, convenience must not be overlooked.

In other words, people will usually travel quite a distance to get what they desperately need or want.

*** Driving And Stress ***

However, most people would prefer not to travel the entire valley to go to a dental appointment (or church, for that matter), if they don’t have to.

Considering that most people don’t like going to the dentist in the first place, having a long, hot and stressful drive before a dental appointment is the equivalent of rubbing salt into a wound.

Ok then, we’ve established that less driving is better.

So, once more, what’s the easist way to find a local dentist?

*** Use The Internet ***

These days, with the possible exception of word-of-mouth, your best bet is the internet.

So, you have four cities in a 600 square mile area with 65 zip codes and in excess of 1,200 dentists.

Where to begin?

Open your favorite search engine’s home page. Ours is Google.

*** Use The Right Search Terms ***

Type something like this into the search box: find a dentist, or find North Las Vegas Cosmetic Dentist.

If you are interested in finding a specialist, you can use terms like these: Boulder City Endodontist or Boulder City sedation dentist.

The major search engines are so advanced these days that they can tell where you are searching from and present only relevant local listings.

You can test it by just typing something like: nearby dental offices, local implant dentist or even just the root term itself, like: root canal specialist or holistic dentist.

You can also enter a general term like dentist and your zip code into most search engines to get focused, local listings.

Once you find a suitable listing, you can use the maps link to get a visual display of where the office is.

While in maps view, you can get driving directions and distances, as well.

So, input search terms like these to get super specific: Orthodontist 89118 , general dentist 89102 or you might even try something like: braces 89129.

Type search terms like bullets, excluding filler words like “a”, “an” or “the”.

The majority of searchers enter complete sentences.  But really, Google (and other search engines) perform more efficiently without the use of such non-relevant, filler words such as adverbs.

*** The Search Listings ***

There’s something you should know as you go internet searching for a local dentist, though.

There are a lot of junky dental sites out there.

It’s sad, but the majority of dental sites seem to be mini-directories where only a few applicable dentists are represented.

In other words, only those dentists who have paid the site owner for a listing will be found on these directory types of sites.

All others will NOT be among the available choices, so you are only exposed to a tiny sample of existing dental practices.

Things are getting better online, however, as the search engines refine their listings and a growing number of dentists have their own sites.

Unfortunately, the average dentist can only be found several pages deep in search engine listings for common terms like those given earlier.

*** It’s All About Marketing ***

So, despite their marketing efforts, they are all but invisible online.

However, we can’t necessarily expect dentists to also be professional marketers.

So, it’s no wonder finding a suitable local dentist can end up being more of a challenge than one might initially think.

These days, the advantage goes to the dental practice that taps into outside expertise in advertising and marketing.

It’s those well-marketed practices who also enjoy the increased benefits of free referrals via word-of-mouth from satisfied existing patients.

*** Persistence Pays ***

Ok, you’ve been warned about the challenges of finding a good dental practice. But we’re confident that with a little persistence and by using the tips we’ve provided, you’ll be successful.

We hope the information presented will be of value to you.

*** Free Dental Guide For Las Vegas Valley Residents ***

A Cheap Dallas Group Dental Insurance Plan Improves Employee Health and Productivity

Sunday, May 31st, 2009

A Dallas dental insurance plan can help support the company in some ways. Dental insurance is an important part of the overall employee benefits that the company uses to attract and keep the best workers in the area.

But there are crucial medical reasons outside the health and well being of employees’ teeth and gums. Serious health conditions can often be first detected in a routine dental exam. With today’s arching medicare costs, forward-thinking companies are smart to focus on defensive care and early detection and treatment of sicknesses. This not only helps the employer to lower employee health care expenses, and lower medical insurance costs, but it helps lower absenteeism due to illness.

A routine dental checkup can regularly be the 1st detection of extremely major sicknesses like diabetes, which is linked to gum disease and cavities. And osteoporosis is often an early caution indication of loose teeth. Catching and treating these diseases in the early stages can greatly reduce the damage they can have on a worker’s life, and cut back the medical cost claims to the corporation’s group health insurance plan.

The group dental plan helps to make oral care affordable and routine for staff. Healthy teeth and gums actually leads to healthy employees. Teeth and gum disease can make workers rather more likely to have significant health problems. For example, studies have shown that women who have peridontal illness have a far higher chance of having premature and low birth weight babies.

The direct medical costs to to businesses for workers who have premature babies is about 15 times higher than for staff who have full-term deliveries. And continuing health problems and medical expenses are significantly higher for early children, as is absenteeism for the folks of early infants.

There is also a medically proven relationship between gum and tooth disease and health and circulatory illness and stroke. New research has shown that inflammation of the gums can make a contribution to clot formation in the arteries.

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services reports that over three quarters of adults over age 35 have peridontal illness. A good Dallas worker benefits agency or Dalas Texas dental care insurance agency can help your company select a cheap group dental insurance policy which may improve the oral health and the overall wellness of staff and their families.

There are many sorts of group dental insurance that a company can choose from. These include DHMO (Dental Health Upkeep Organization ) plans, Dental PPO (Preferred Provider Organization) plans, and Dental Indemnity plans. These plans vary widely in the variety of choice of dentists that the employee can visit, as well as in the premium cost and the dental benefits contained within the plan.

If the company has implemented a consumer driven health plan,eg a health savings account or a health reimbursement arrangement, employees may also be in a position to pay for in the red medical costs on a before tax basis. This can help in making good oral health even more reasonable for a Texas company’s workers and their families.

A knowledgeable Dallas group health insurance broker can help give the company with a survey of available Texas group dental insurance quotes, and help the company establish the overall best plan for their staff and budget.

Saving Money with Dallas Dental Insurance

Sunday, May 31st, 2009

Are you on the lookout for cheap dental insurance Dallas texas in Texas? Texas has multiple affordable dental plans available for individual, family, group and more, especially in the more populated areas of the state,eg Houston, San Antonio, Dallas – Fort Worth and more. The thing that you actually need to consider before buying any dental plan though is if dental insurance is your best option or if buying a dental discount plan would make more sense. Let’s have a look at both.

Dental discount plans are not an insurance policy, but simply a network of dentists that offer important savings for joining the plan. The dentists get massive deductions on items and apparatus the use each day in their practice as one motivation for being members. Also, plan members must pay their dentist the full discounted rate at the time of the appointment. Let me give you an example. Let’s say you you need to have a root canal performed on a Molar tooth and the common value of having this done is $829.00, but with the discount card your cost would only be $488.00, for a savings of $371.00. You would be required to pay the $488.00 at the time of your visit in full. It’s a “win-win” for both parties because the patient saves almost 45% off the price of their process and the dentist gets his money right away without having to fill out any claim forms, wait 45 days or longer for the insurance company to pay them or make payment arrangements, that don’t always work out in their favor.

Decent dental insurance plan can be expensive, irrespective of where you live. I lately read that the cost of dental insurance has gone up over five hundred p.c during the past decade. Unfortunately, the quality of care has fell at the same time. Dental insurance will not cover any established problems that you could have and is focused mostly on preventive care. You’ll have an extended waiting period before any of your pre-existing conditions will be covered and even then you can still have to share the cost in most cases.

If you live in Dallas Texas or any other state and are looking for reasonable insurance, I highly recommend that you’re taking an intense look at dental discount plans before you spend your hard earned money.
